In *Diaz Alama Portraits of Souls – Abstracts*, Jordi Diaz Alama distills portraiture into its emotional essence, replacing likeness with atmosphere. Layered fields of pigment, scraped textures, and gestural marks suggest faces that appear and dissolve, as if caught between memory and presence.
The artist’s controlled improvisation—balancing saturated color with quiet tonal passages—creates a visual rhythm that feels both intimate and expansive. These works invite close looking: surfaces reveal traces of erasure and renewal, echoing the complexity of inner life.
The series positions abstraction as a form of psychological portrait, resonant with contemporary figurative traditions while decisively its own.
Jordi Diaz Alamà was born in Granollers in 1986, he graduated from the Fine Arts from the University of Barcelona. He also trained at the classical art schools, such as the Florence Academy of Art (Florence) where he learned the techniques used by the great masters of 19th-century painting.
Jordi consolidated his training during a series of stays with contemporary masters of realism such as the Norwegian painter Odd Nerdrum , Guillermo Muñoz Vera as well as Antonio López .
