Pattinson graduated with a BA (Hons) from Winchester School of Art and earned an MA from Glasgow School of Art. As a student he lived in the Soviet Union — immersing himself in its propaganda art — and later in Northern Ireland, where he observed the raw, politically charged street murals that would go on to shape his fascination with conflicting emotions like love and hate.
